Since I started quad riding/racing 12 years ago I have watched this event on YouTube and seen pictures everywhere.. maybe one day… and now I do it with my company. My team and my own built quad are amazing and are slowly starting to sink in.. thanks to 2 great team mates, our families and sponsors behind us. Without them it just wouldn’t be possible.
We started qualifying on Friday in P26.
Saturday morning, race 1☀️: @kurdahlmikkel started and @timvanwee finished till the end. P23
Saturday night, race 2 ⛈️🌪: @timvanwee started and we were supposed to pit early to refuel. We pitted as planned and then it started to rain and thunder. We did our thing and @kurdahlmikkel drove away. Then the safety car came to stop the race ❌️❌️. Perfect strategy from the team to give us a full tank for the last race on Sunday. Race 2 was cancelled completely and no results were recorded.
Sunday afternoon, race 3 🚣🏻♂️: It had rained all night, leaving 20cm of water on the track for me @jeroengelmers to compete against. I drove smart and made no mistakes until P8. Eventually the track started to dry out and the lap times dropped. We pitted, did some cleaning and pitted @kurdahlmikkel on the bike. He was going as hard as he could but had some issues with drying mud getting stuck, causing a sticky throttle and vibrations at high speed. Made an extra pitstop to fix it and went back for 90 minutes. Made the last scheduled pitstop so @jeroengelmers could finish the last 90 minutes. Everything was going well and consistent until after 30 minutes the engine failed on the straight. Pushing the bike through the mud for 150 meters before the mechanics could take over had taken its toll. They found the problem and @timvanwee sprinted the last 20 minutes to the finish. P35 overall out of 93 teams. We went with the goal to finish on our first attempt, and that's what we did. More than happy.
We did it, @72hdepontdevaux is ready 💪🏻👏🏻. It hurts a little not to ride all night, but it definitely wasn't easier.
Thank you and see you next time in France
